Cut funding for invasive research on chimpanzees.
The time has come to ban chimpanzee experiments. Currently, the United States is only one of two nations that still uses these animals in cruel, invasive studies. Help stop to this outrage by signing this petition that asks President Obama to cut funding for invasive chimp research!
The White House recently launched a new website, We The People, which allows anyone to petition the government via an online platform. If a petition reaches 25,000 signatures within 30 days, the White House will submit a public response on the issue. We need your help to bring chimps into the spotlight!
It is time for the U.S. to join other industrialized nations and ban the use of chimpanzees in research. Continued funding for studies using chimpanzees has come under increased criticism within the scientific community as well as the general public for its lack of relevance or necessity in advancing human heath. The suffering and stress inflicted on these highly intelligent social creatures coupled with the waste of tax payer dollars makes their continued use untenable.
Permanently retiring these chimpanzees to sanctuaries will not only benefit their lives with a more natural environment but will save taxpayer dollars currently being spent to warehouse them in federally funded research institutions.
Sign and help end research on chimpanzees and stop wasteful government

Help End the Sale of Fur at Nordstrom
Nordstrom is a fourth generation family business that has a solid customer service reputation, and a name that evokes a sense of responsibility and success. Why then does the Nordstrom Family continue to sully its reputation with ties to the fur industry?
Help Nordstrom make the right choice by speaking up when shopping at Nordstrom. Please politely tell their associates: “Please stop selling fur.” Ask for a comment card on which you can write the same sentiment.
Please keep your message polite, positive, and on point about the animal suffering. Let Nordstrom know that you are a customer and to please stop carrying all fur items.

Please contact our Nordstrom Campaign Coordinator at hope@idausa.org for fliers and information about how you can participate.

Tell Oregon Governor to Stop Wolf Slaughter
The Imnaha Pack is one of only two reproducing wolf packs in Oregon. Killing two surviving members, including the alpha male, will make life even harder for the two wolves in the pack who are left — and make them more likely to resort to preying on livestock.  Such heavy-handed reaction to occasional wolf depredations will squelch wolf recovery in Oregon. Far more effective would be to insist on better livestock husbandry practices to reduce the vulnerability of stock and the likelihood of conflict.  Government wolf killing has not built tolerance for wolves in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming, where more than 1,000 wolves have been killed in response to depredations; yet now calls for killing wolves are growing. To build true coexistence, and perhaps a measure of tolerance, Oregon’s state government must first tolerate the wolves.
Tell Oregon Governor that in order to build true coexistence, and perhaps a measure of tolerance, Oregon’s state government must first tolerate the wolves AND NOT SLAUGHTER THEM to pacify ranchers and hunters.

About rachel

Hi, I'm Rachel and I've been active with NARN as long as I've been vegan 13 years! I made the choice to be vegan after learning about what happens to egg laying chickens and dairy cows. I had previously been vegetarian for 7 years because I finally made the connection that beef came from cows and pork came from pigs (duh, I know). I didn't want my food choices to cause the death of an animal. It just seems like common sense to not eat animals if you care at all about animals, the earth or your fellow human beings. I became active with NARN because after I found out about the atrocities happening to animals, I felt that I had to do what I could to help stop these injustices. NARN is local, puts the animals first, and networks with other groups. We aren't worried about getting credit - just helping the animals. One of my favorite quotes is: "I think the purpose of life is to be useful, to be responsible, to be compassionate. It is, above all to matter, to count, to stand for something, to have made some difference that you lived at all." ~ Leo Rosten and "Progress in every age results only from the fact that there are some men and women who refuse to believe that what they know to be right cannot be done." --Russell W. Davenport
