Please let GEICO’s CEO Tony Nicely know what you think about the company’s support of rodeo cruelty. “We are proud to be partnering with the PRCA and the exciting world of ProRodeo,” said Ted Ward, GEICO vice president.”

GEICO insurance is partnering with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). Rodeos are vicious and cruel, however, GEICO thinks it’s just another way to promote themselves.

Tell San Diego County Fair to Suspend Cruel Elephant Rides
Organizers of the San Diego County Fair are having elephant rides provided by the company Have Trunk Will Travel (HTWT), despite video evidence that the company abuses elephants. In video footage recently released by Animal Defenders International, trainers with HTWT can be seen forcing elephants to perform by shocking them with electric prods in the belly and genital area and striking them with bullhooks—sharp metal-tipped weapons resembling fireplace pokers that can leave painful welts, abscesses, and puncture wounds on elephants’ sensitive skin. In the footage, a baby elephant cries out in pain each time he is hit on the head and jabbed in his sensitive mouth with a bullhook.

Tell Rebecca Desmond, acting director of the Division of Fairs and Expositions; Barry Nussbaum, president of the Board of Directors for the 22nd District Agricultural Association; and Tim Fennell, CEO and general manger of the 22nd District Agricultural Association, to urge them to suspend the elephant rides at the San Diego County Fair immediately while fair staff conduct an internal investigation.

About rachel

Hi, I'm Rachel and I've been active with NARN as long as I've been vegan 13 years! I made the choice to be vegan after learning about what happens to egg laying chickens and dairy cows. I had previously been vegetarian for 7 years because I finally made the connection that beef came from cows and pork came from pigs (duh, I know). I didn't want my food choices to cause the death of an animal. It just seems like common sense to not eat animals if you care at all about animals, the earth or your fellow human beings. I became active with NARN because after I found out about the atrocities happening to animals, I felt that I had to do what I could to help stop these injustices. NARN is local, puts the animals first, and networks with other groups. We aren't worried about getting credit - just helping the animals. One of my favorite quotes is: "I think the purpose of life is to be useful, to be responsible, to be compassionate. It is, above all to matter, to count, to stand for something, to have made some difference that you lived at all." ~ Leo Rosten and "Progress in every age results only from the fact that there are some men and women who refuse to believe that what they know to be right cannot be done." --Russell W. Davenport
